There are many beers you would not climb over to get to this one, but Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. This is a light beer with a crisp and clean finish and with some grainy pale malt flavours, a hint of sweetness a certain tanginess and a noticeable vanilla flavour. There's a subtle sulphurous note and also a yeasty, bready quality, but overall it's well balanced with a nice hop presence that adds a touch of bitterness. Tsingtao is named for the German colonial city created at the end of the nineteenth century on the Bay of Kiaochow.
